On the shamanic path I found out that all humans have at least one angel helping us from the invisible realms around us; we wouldn’t survive past infancy without them. They give us energy, that “second wind,” healing, encouragement, guidance, and protection…to the extent that we and our karma allow it. It may seem that that help is coming directly from our bodies or from Spirit (“God,” if you prefer that terminology). We may not realize it is coming from angels because we don’t perceive them with our physical senses. When going on a shamanic spirit journey, however, we come face-to-face with them and the information is often so unexpected and profoundly true that there isn’t a shadow of doubt that these are beings separate from us. These angels are assigned to us by Spirit and are given access to our soul’s path
and mission; they perhaps know us better than we know ourselves. We can ask anything that’s dear to our heart and receive an answer or a healing that is both deeply true and helpful, in a way that’s easy to handle.

They appear to us not through the use of our physical senses, but in our mind’s eye. What form they take in our inner vision is determined by what helps us better accept the support. If we’re comfortable with shamanism or feel better around animals than with humans, they may appear as very intelligent animals; thus, they’re called “power animals” because they empower us. If an animal form is not comfortable to us, they may appear as humans or the traditional angels-with-wings; in this case they are called spirit guides, spirit teachers, or guardian angels. Their true form is pure light, however. In my own experience, they have shown up in ALL of these forms, at different times.

About six years ago, for nearly eight months, it seemed like every third spirit journey I did for someone, I heard a very specific message from my spirit teachers. They said (and I quote verbatim), “The kingdom of power animals wants all humans on this planet to come face to face with their power animals.” Now, I did not interpret that to mean that they want all of us to do things the shamanic way. No one style of inner work is right for everyone. Some of my acquaintances are in direct communication with their angels; others get profound guidance from Spirit; others feel closely guided by their intuition.

My spirit teachers know that as we come face-to-face with our angels we obtain whatever we deeply need and yearn for, be it healing, guidance, encouragement, or protection. We obtain that within minutes. People who aren’t in that close a touch with their angels go through life like Helen Keller: both blind and deaf to their guidance. Their angels have to push, cajol, create synchronicities and coincidences, let life deliver hard knocks, or whatever it takes - all in hopes that they will finally hear or see what they need in order to “get it” before they get into too much trouble. Our angels want a closer rapport with us so that we can receive our guidance within minutes rather than days or years.

My spirit teachers said that both the world and the human race are in a lot of trouble right now and this is why they want face-to-face contact with us. Those of us who are able to get profound guidance and healing draw ever closer to our soul’s purpose. We build greater integrity into our lives. As we act comfortably with greater integrity, we also act more honestly with other people. This leads to learning how to get along better with others both personally and internationally. And it all results in healing the human
race, as well as finding ways to heal the planet. Our angels want this healing to occur.

Angels have a higher vibration than ours…that’s why we can’t see them with our physical eyes. A “higher vibration” however doesn’t mean they are our Masters nor that they are better than us. They also are not our slaves. Spirit sees us as partners. The angelic evolutionary path is merely different from ours. They attain spiritual growth according to how well they help us…that is, to the extent that we allow it. We humans have been given free will. That means that our SOLE job is to learn how to make right choices, ones that both help others and further our own spiritual growth. Our angels are not allowed to infringe on that free will. (If we experience coercion from inner “direction,” know that that is NOT coming from our true guiding angels! We have every right to tell that “direction” to leave.) We make the decisions…they supply the help and the guidance. They want to help us. Together, humans and angels are teams of equals paired by our highest Spirit to help us through this difficult world. Spirit does not want us to self-destruct!

If you think you’re unworthy to meet them or to ask for their help, know that thoughts, feelings and attitudes of unworthiness are PURE ILLUSION. Our angels will do everything within their power to help us come face-to face with them. Time after time I’ve seen a client achieve success in contacting their angels even though they felt at the start of the process that THEY would be the exception, that THEY would not be able to succeed, saying “Who am I to think that I could be worthy enough to approach my angels
directly?!!” Time after time I’ve also heard them describe an angel coming to their aid to help them through a difficult passage-way to the realm where these beings live.

Spirit knows we are dealing with illusion on this planet. Spirit wants to help us shed that deceptive veil, to discover our true worth. OUR TRUE WORTH IS THAT WE ARE BEINGS OF LIGHT AND PART OF GOD JUST AS THE ANGELS ARE!
