SOUL INTEGRATION

By Maryphyllis Horn

During trauma, abuse, neglect or intense prolonged grieving, we tend to leave the body temporarily in order to avoid the full impact of the pain. If part of the psyche (soul) decides to recede totally into Spiritual
dimensions, we suffer what is called "soul loss." "Soul Retrieval" is the process of bringing these soul parts back to us. The soul parts can not return on their own. The "soul," in Shamanic terms, is the vital essence that is uniquely us; no one else's essence can replace it. Spiritual healing energy can help for a time, but it does not permanently replace our own unique essence. Soul is not synonymous with "Spirit." (Note: if you define "soul" differently, please substitute a different word, such as body-mind or sentient-essence, when reading the following material.)

It is important to realize that in Soul Retrieval not all soul parts come back at once. You are not thrust into the position of having to handle more than you can deal with. Spirit determines what is appropriate and what you can integrate comfortably into the whole of yourself at the time. This can range from one soul part to several, in one retrieval. The returning soul part gives you energy, so you feel more whole and more able to connect with life. Some soul parts exude greater wholeness and completeness within hours of the retrieval. Some delay that until integration work is done. Some are very talkative, others act only at the feeling level. Some create a totally uplifting and buoyant experience, while others require much inner work. Some soul retrievals are dramatic and noticeable in their effects, while others are very subtle. Your experience depends partly upon the specific soul parts and soul qualities that return and partly on how much inner work you have already done, to prepare for it. However, not every soul retrieval can be prepared for.

When the soul part splits off, it still feels alive and sentient although in a form that we in body can see only clairvoyantly (with the mind's eye). It takes with it its energy, soul quality and some memories of the soul loss causes. As long as it is gone from the body, it can't grow, evolve nor communicate with you. It remains at the same level of maturity as it was at the time the split occurred and it obsesses over the circumstance that caused it to leave.

The soul part also may give you memories connected to the circumstance that made it leave. However, if they would be traumatic for you, Spirit will wipe them away before I return the soul part to you. Doing so still leaves its soul quality intact. You still have the benefits of it. From antiquity, shamans have performed soul retrievals on individuals who suffered a calamity or showed signs of soul loss. People were restored to wholeness at once, full and vibrant, confident and in possession of all of their talents and strengths. They usually needed little follow-up attention because the few hours or days between soul loss and soul retrieval didn't cause them to develop dysfunctional habits and beliefs.

Until the mid 1980's, our western culture didn't know about soul retrieval. We've had to put up with feeling fearful, "less-than" and getting used to lacking certain commonly-held human traits, as the result of soul loss. We've adapted to the change by adopting dysfunctional beliefs, attitudes and ways of behaving. During the integration process, therefore, we work quickly to reverse these and return you to a state of greater wholeness. Using unconventional shamanic methods, I help you reverse dysfunctions within one short session.

You may or may not experience emotions. When you do, the emotions are surprisingly easy to manage and they release quickly. They don't become repressed or put you on overwhelm. It's a feeling of relief. The soul retrieval merely returns a soul part to you. The soul part automatically integrates into your emotions and feelings. However, that alliance is much like a racially integrated neighborhood, where anyone can leave any time they wish. That's what happens when you don't do any kind of follow up work.

Another analogy is that of a loved one who returns to your family after many years of absence. S/he may be the same basic person you knew, but there's a lot of "catching up" to do.and a lot of synchronizing of family activity and attitudes. Both the family and the returned loved one need to adjust and cooperate with each other. That's the integration process in a nutshell. How you go about it determines how quickly you have access to the beauties and strengths of the soul part, and how easy the process is on you. A slow, time-consuming process makes your experience difficult; acting quickly gives you a more joyful and uplifting experience.

Follow-up sessions are a significant part of integration work. With unprecedented use of shamanic methods, I help you become acquainted with the soul part in a way that achieves soul infusion. That's like putting dye in water: once it's there it never leaves. That can happen only when all the healing and re-acquainting are done; Spirit doesn't allow infusion if it would mean eternal pain. The most exciting part of infusion work involves experiencing the up-lifting soul quality, from the soul part's point of view, and letting it be innate in your life. That alone is a major "aha" of relief, wholeness and joy. You also learn how to obtain instant guidance from your spirit guides, heal your issues effortlessly and painlessly, and grow the soul part up to your age. Both you and the soul part then have the benefit of each other's strengths, guidance and support. You become more highly evolved, joyful and one with the beauties of this world.
