Reiki : Today, I Will Accept and Give Thanks for My Many Blessings

If one watches Oprah with any regularity, one has surely heard her talk about keeping a Gratitude Journal and maintaining an "attitude of gratitude." By recognizing the generosity of the Universe on a daily basis, she maintains, we become aware of just how very blessed we are. This awareness has changed the lives of many of her watchers. Dr. Mikao Usui used this belief as one of the five precepts or principles of Reiki.

Gratitude, thankfulness, and appreciation are all positive mental states which set up a positive vibration or frequency which draws to you other positive vibrations and more abundance. If we feel like a victim, or if we feel unworthy and complain about everything in our lives we will experience lack. Complaining cuts off the flow of abundance separating us from the goodness of the Universe and putting us out of balance with our Higher Self. If you consistently feel that other people have more than you, that you lack spiritual, mental, emotional, physical or material wealth then this is what will manifest in your life. If you focus on what you are lacking, then lack becomes your focus. Gratitude acknowledges abundance and what you acknowledge, you become. If you are thankful for what you have, the Universe will continue to reward you with more.

Someone remarked to me recently that if we made a list of all the things that are stressful to us (job, family, housekeeping and home maintenance, cars, etc.), they would be the very things for which we are thankful (job, family, a house, car, etc.). It is simply a matter of attitude towards these things which makes the difference.

Try giving thanks every day for at least 10 things. Record them in your own Gratitude Journal. It won't be long before you notice a difference in your life.
