A native of Nashville, Tennessee,
Julie Hammer moved to Charlotte,
North Carolina at 14 years of age. After graduation from
Myers Park
High School, Julie attended The University of North Carolina
at
Greensboro, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree
in
Graphic Design with a minor in Creative Writing. She began
her
professional career with Furniture City Color in High Point,
NC where
she served as the resident “Photoshop Magician.”
In 2000, Julie hitched a ride to Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina where
she was hired as a Graphic Designer for Himmelsbach Communications,
then the publisher of several well-known area resort publications.
As this company transitioned into the information and technology
age, Julie also began expanding her largely print-based
skill set into the filed of designing and building websites.
While at Himmelsbach, Julie began freelancing as a web and
print designer. She quickly discovered that she had a knack
- and a passion - for working directly with clients, not
only to do design work for them, but to help them create
powerful, lasting identities which would directly impact
their success.
In 2004, Julie left the company to pursue full-time
freelance work and
established 90 Degree Design in 2006. 90 Degree Design contributed
to multiple successful brands, having created and developed
web and print- based design projects for organizations such
as Wyndham Vacation Resorts, Barefoot Resort and Golf and
Legends Resort.
Called back to her old stomping ground in early
2009, Julie returned
to North Carolina settling in the capital city of Raleigh
which she
currently calls home. While she continues to provide marketing
and web design services for several select client accounts
in the Myrtle Beach area, she is also the soon-to-be publisher
of In The Sandhills
Magazine (formerly Traditions Magazine). In addition to
developing a
new platform for In The Sandhills, she is also currently
developing a
current total of 8 website ventures, the goal of which is
to create a
network of community-based sites which promote local commerce
and
interactivity within their respective locales.
Julie is a not only a great designer, but also
a savvy marketer who
possesses an innate understanding of consumer psychology.
Almost a
“sixth sense,” this understanding is the bedrock
upon which many
successful ideas and brands have been built.
